Welcome to the SD Social Network

Welcome to the SD Social Network! This site is for student leaders, moderators, group participants, alumni, and staff to connect with each other in order to further the work of Sustained Dialogue across the country.

On this site, you can connect with other SD participants on your campus, share your event photos, stay in touch with students at other schools, write a blog, and get advice for your dialogues in the forums. You can even upload video to help share your work with others. SDCN's Program Directors will also regularly update the site with important news, events, and announcements, so log in frequently! We suggest you get started by joining (or even starting) your school's group or by listing some of your program's upcoming events.

For those of you who are moderators, you can set up forums and groups just for your participants and use this site as a place to upload content for them to have access to. Invite them early on in the year and get them used to chatting via Ning!

The students in each of the campuses of the network are full of success stories and ideas. Share yours and see if you can find something to take back to your campus!

being done

We just had our last publicity and recruiting meeting, and I can't express how relieved I am. From all the little projects we started and stopped last spring, to our rather unsuccessful freshman SD 101 event, I had been getting more and more nervous and concerned about whether SD was actually going to work this year.

The moderator training workshops helped a lot in getting everyone pumped up and excited to work, and I think a lot of that energy (combined with the desire to not have another fail… Continue

How to set up online participant sign-ups using Google Docs' Forms Feature...

I've emailed some of you telling you that a trend in the network is to focus less on paper sign-ups at Activities Fairs and to let email blurbs themselves be a place to sign up participants. After all, it is 2008.

If you're clueless about how your school can do this for free, follow these steps to use Google Docs' options for creating one web-based survey for your participants to fill out from the comfort of their dorm rooms.

Sustained Dialogue: Princeton Style

It feels good, this is the summer of Sustained Dialogue (SD). As a group, Princeton SD is productive and focused! We have a great team with a mix of experience and youth--overall, we're in great shape!

I have a personal wishlist in regards to some of the cool things we could do within this school year, here's the top five in order:

5. Have a tenth year anniversary celebration of Princeton SD: Just reading through the history, Hal Saunders and a few students brought SD to Princeton in 1999 (at… Continue

What I'm excited about today

So I've been pretty immersed in SD for many years. My last two months have been spent as the newest PD in the office, so I'm getting the chance to think and talk about what's interesting about applying Sustained Dialogue to college campuses more than ever.

What's exciting about THIS year's work with campuses is that we've taken some time to rev up our thinking about Stage 5 action. The new moderator manuals have the most comprehensive Action discussion we've had in any of our materials (maybe e… Continue
